Interdisciplinary researcher and artistic worker based in Berlin
An interdisciplinary researcher and artistic worker based in Berlin, Elsa’s work explores queer ecologies and the transformative potential of educational and artistic spaces in shaping imaginaries and responding to the current environmental collapse. She is the co-founder of Collective Webs, an organisation whose artistic projects challenge the binaries between nature and culture, art and science, and question the narratives, power relations, and ways of being in the world that shape our relationship with the ‘other’ – both human and more-than-human.
With a Bachelor’s in philosophy from the Sorbonne University (Paris, France) and a Master’s in social sciences (Humboldt University, Germany; Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India; University of Pretoria, South Africa) she is working as artistic facilitator and curator for the New Futures Collaborative Art Residency. Member of the Exploring Visual Cultures Project, Elsa has collaborated in exhibitions, conferences, and residencies across South Africa, Croatia, France, Germany, and Brazil. Her work includes community projects in Berlin, academic research and publications, and facilitating artistic programmes. For instance, she recently co-curated the Vazio Sobre Terra exhibition showcasing the works of 40 artists in Belém, Brasil at the Museum of Art of Belém at the occasion of the COP30, addressing the harms of extractivism in the context of the green energy transition. With Initiatives of Change USA and Art Africa, she co-designed the New Futures Art Collaborative artistic residency in Johannesburg (2024). She also co-organised two artistic residencies in Berlin (2023 and 2024), in partnership with Haus der Statistik and Berlin Refugee Week.
