Scholar of Global Intercultural Studies
Dr Lin Zheng is a scholar of Global Intercultural Studies whose work explores interculturality as lived practice. Her research examines how intercultural legitimacy, intercultural legibility and intercultural dissonance shape international student experiences and the dynamics of intergenerational relationships in migrant families. She studies how affect, especially shame, misrecognition and fragile belonging, travels across cultural and generational boundaries, producing tensions in which care, responsibility and success become difficult to read. Through practitioner research and community-based collaborations, she develops concepts such as anchored translation and dialogic repair to address moments when care becomes culturally unreadable, contributing to emerging debates on recognition, well-being and the politics of intercultural encounters.
