Marcos Sorrentino holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology (1981) and Pedagogy (1984) and a master’s degree in Education (1988) from the Federal University of São Carlos, a PhD in Education (1995) and post-doctoral studies at the Department of Social Psychology of the University of São Paulo (1999). He was Director of Environmental Education of the Ministry of the Environment from 2003 to 2008. He has experience in the area of Education, with emphasis on environmental education, public policies, and future planning towards sustainable societies. Since the 1970s, he has been involved in environmental citizenship and environmental education. He has worked since 1988 in the Department of Forestry at the School of Agriculture ‘Luiz de Queiroz’ of the University of São Paulo, and as an Associate Professor since 2011. He is currently a senior lecturer and coordinates the Environmental Education and Politics Laboratory (Oca).
